Alternative Remedies to Treat Cholesterol

There are alternatives to treat cholesterol, rather than using prescription medication and these work well for people that do not want to put chemicals into their body or have problems taking medications. These are known as natural remedies and come from plants, which naturally have the compounds in them that can help to reduce cholesterol. There are also vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that can help to lower cholesterol naturally and some of these are:
Garlic, which has been studied due to its properties that are able to lower cholesterol, and grape seed extract that also has cholesterol lowering properties. The vitamins and minerals that are known to be effective in lowering cholesterol are vitamin B, which decreases LDL cholesterol levels and helps repair oxidation damage. Chromium, which is known to lower LDL levels while at the same time raising HDL cholesterol levels that, is known as the good cholesterol level. Vitamin C is known to help slightly reduce the cholesterol level; Coenzyme Q 10 also is noted for assisting with lowering cholesterol levels.

There are other natural remedies for assisting in the reduction of LDL cholesterol and they can include carnitine, soy, and others that are beneficial and do not have the side effects that are associated with prescription medications.
