Can People with High Cholesterol Continue Smoking?

Smoking adds up the effect of high level of cholesterol. The accumulation of cholesterol jams the flow of blood in the blood vessels. When one smokes with a higher level of cholesterol in the body, the amount HDL cholesterol gets reduced in the body. The HDL cholesterol is considered as the good cholesterol that is needed by the body for certain actions. Simultaneously, the amount of LDL cholesterol in the body gets increased along with the triglyceride cholesterol. Both the cholesterols are referred to as bad cholesterols and are really quite dangerous for the health. Besides all these, when smoke gets into our body, it also enters the blood vessels of the body. As a result of which the vessels get further irritated. It has been noticed by certain researchers that while smoking, the deeper one inhales the smoke, worse is the effect on the levels of cholesterols. When a person inhales the smokes released by someone else’s smoking, the person is known as passive smoker. The passive smokers also do suffer from the same problems as is faced by the direct smokers. The smokes do cause irritation in their blood vessels and this irritation is stronger than that with the direct smokers.
