Ezetimibe’s effect on human body

Ezetimibe is a classic drug that is essentially used for lowering cholesterol levels. It is often known as cholesterol absorption inhibitors. As the name suggests, Ezetimibe blocks cholesterol absorption from intestines into our bloodstream. This will prevent the entrance of higher amounts of cholesterol into the body.
Ezetimibe works at the border of the intestine, particularly the small intestine. As lesser amounts of cholesterol is delivered from our digestive tract to liver, which actually depletes the cholesterol stores of the liver, the liver the reacts by taking out cholesterol from blood, thereby reducing the level of cholesterol in blood.
Ezetimibe helps in decreasing the total level of cholesterol and fats, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides in some cases.
Ezetimibe is also used for treating heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in young boys and girls, aged between 10 and above. It has been studied and observed that these drugs can make a great difference in treating this condition effectively without causing any side effects.

The main aim of Ezetimibe is to lower the level of LDL cholesterol, which in turn will reduce the risk of several health conditions that could result due to this problem. Usually, a cholesterol lowering treatment will begin with lifestyle modifications, but drugs must be included to stabilize the condition.
