Can high levels of blood cholesterol be a hereditary disorder?

One of the most uncontrollable causes of high cholesterol deposits is hereditary. It is observed that in some people the tendency to build-up bad cholesterol level is due to their generic disposition. Such patients may report family histories of relatives suffering from high cholesterol. Unfortunately, there are hardly any signs of detecting this medical condition in the initial stage and prevent it from aggravating. In addition, there are no ways to control genetic dispositions so as to prevent one’s natural tendency to record high cholesterol. Such people are then suggested a stream of lifestyle alterations and therapeutic measures to keep a check on their cholesterol level. Changes like low calorie diet, increased consumption of fibers, omega-3 acid along with strenuous physical exercise regime form the first line treatment as well prevention for the same.

However, in cases, these natural measures fail to bring any drastic results; one must take to the consumption of cholesterol lowering drugs. These drugs are especially designed to block the agent responsible for formulating cholesterol in the body. However, these drugs are not a substitute for nutritional diet and regular exercises. This class of medication should be taken as per the recommended dosage lest it leads to unwanted side effects.
