Scientists reveal that when a patient has cholesterol problem in diabetes then the chances of heart attack and stroke is quite high. Thus, it means that if you are a diabetes patient then you must be extra careful that you don’t get cholesterol problem or else it will be risky for your life.
However, studies are still in the developing stage and the scientists are still finding out as to how does high blood sugar affect the cholesterol levels at the cellular level. In one of the studies it was found out that high levels of insulin in the body increases the LDL or bad cholesterol and lowers the HDL or good cholesterol. This encourages the plaques to occur in the arteries and thus hardening them. This could have effect on heart and may lead to complications like heart attack or stroke.
And one of the studies showed that high cholesterol can also attract the chances of having diabetes. This study revealed that high cholesterol was common among people who were insulin resistant. Thus, in order to keep away the risk of diabetes as soon as high cholesterol is detected in the blood, one must switch to low fat and low cholesterol diet and a healthy lifestyle with exercise regime. This can postpone or avoid the risk of having diabetes. |
