Cholesterol: Role of Nicotinic Acid |
Nicotinic acid lowers the level of cholesterol. It is not so much expensive and you can use it after consulting a physician. Rather than nicotinic acid, you cannot use Nicotinamide because it cannot low cholesterol level. The daily dose of nicotinic acid should be 1.5 to 3 grams per day. It can reduce LDL-cholesterol level from 10 % to 20 %, triglycerides from 20 % to 50 % and is also capable of increasing HDL cholesterol from 15% to 35 %. The side effect of nicotinic acid is hot flashes. If you are a high blood pressure patient then you have to consult with a doctor for using of niacin. You can also face vomiting, indigestion, diarrhea, gas and nausea also by taking niacin. High blood sugar, liver problems, gout are also the side effects. So if you are a diabetes patient, you can‘t take niacin. Triglycerides and VLDL are reduced by use of niacin which creates LDL into the blood. It can reduce LDL Cholesterol which is bad and increase HDL which is good cholesterol. VLDL stands for very low density lipoprotein. People use it because of low HDL level. |
