Can Patients Taking Medicines for Cholesterol Suffer from Side Effects?

Any prescribed medication for lowering blood cholesterol level can be accompanied with side effects. Most of these side effects cannot be pleasant. There are two popular types of drugs used to treat high blood cholesterol level. One of them is statins and another one is called bile acid sequestrants. Another most commonly prescribed group of drugs are niacin. Niacins are also known as nicotinic acid. Niacin comes in both dietary and supplementary form. High dose of statins can result in the chances of getting severe and dangerous side effects. However, these side effects are disappeared after the reduction of the dosage. If required withdrawal of the medication can be done by the physician. Speak to your doctor immediately if you observe any type of side effects due to the drugs. These drugs should be accompanied with regular physical exercise otherwise it may deliver very less significant or no result.
