Simvastatin for cholesterol

Simvastatin is commonly used to lower the cholesterol level in the blood. The drug can be classified under statin class of drugs.  Simvastatin is the third strongest drug for lowering cholesterol level in the blood. Simvastatin lowers the cholesterol level by affecting the lipid profile of the body. It lowers the level of low density lipoprotein and increases the level of high density lipoprotein. High density lipoprotein is very helpful for the body. It reduces the cogging of blood vessels by removing the deposits of low density lipoprotein. It also lowers the level of triglycerides in the body. Simvastatin leads to cholesterol reduction. It blocks 3-hydroxy-3methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reeducates enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for the production of cholesterol in the body. This medication can be taken without or with food. It should be well consulted with the doctor. If you are taking this medication avoid grapefruits in your diet. It may increase the level of simvastatin in your body. It may also increase the side effects associated with the medication. A medical advice is highly recommended before using this drug. There are a number of adverse effects caused by regular effect of this medicinal drug.  There are also many drugs that may interact with simvastatin medications.
