Simvastatin side effects

Simvastatin belongs to the category of hypolipidemic drugs and helps people struggling with high cholesterol content and cardio vascular diseases.  Simvastatin has several side effects. Some of the common negative side effects are severe headache, skin rash and pharyngitis. It might trigger gastrointestinal problems in some people. They might exhibit negative side effects like constipation, severe pain in abdominal area, dyspepsia and flatulence. There are several serious side effects too. However, they are rare in nature. In some patients, the color of urine changes to red or brown. Some experience muscle soreness and weakness. If you experience these side effects you need to consult doctor immediately. Along with, simvastatin is not for all. People having allergies should avoid this. Women should avoid simvastatin during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Similarly, simvastatin does not suit people having alcohol abuse history or having liver enzymes at an abnormal level. There are several drugs which exhibit negative interaction towards simvastatin and might trigger adverse side effects. Most prominent of them are cholesterol lowering drugs like nicotinic acid and fibrates. Anti-fungal drugs, medications for high blood pressure, HIV Protease Inhibitors and several antibiotics also exhibit negative reaction towards simvastatin. If you are taking one of the above drugs, you need to avoid simvastatin.
