VAP test for cholesterol

Cholesterol is needed for some basic activities of cell membranes and cells. However, if the level of cholesterol increases in the body it can have disastrous effect to the body. Measuring blood cholesterol level is important. It can give much vital information regarding the risks of getting heart diseases. There are many types of tests that can give you information on your cholesterol levels. VAP test is done to measure cholesterol level in the blood. VAP is the acronym for Vertical Auto Profile. Previously when VAP tests were not invented cholesterol tests measured the amount of low density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) and high density lipoprotein (good cholesterol) in the blood. These figures are not enough to find out the risk of getting a heart disease in a person. After the scientific advancement they found that HDL and LDL can be divided into further subtypes. These subtypes can give a better picture to determine the risk factor of heart disease. LDL is considered to be bad for health. VAP test can measure the amount of LDL called Lp (a) which is more dangerous for heart. Likewise HDL is considered to be good for heart. HDL1 and HDL2 can be measured through a VAP test. HDL2 is better for the health as compared to HDL1
