Healing Cholesterol Disorder Using Surgery |
A special kind of surgery named as gastric bypass surgery is used to lower the level of cholesterol. It can also improve the ratio of the total amount of cholesterol in the body to the amount of good cholesterol required for the body. A study regarding this was presented at the 27th ASMBS (Annual Meeting of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery). As per the reports of the study within 6 months of this gastric bypass surgery, almost all the patients with higher levels of cholesterol have their levels normalized. It was also found that ninety one percent of the patients using statins as well as certain other drugs that empower the lipid before the surgery no more needed to use them. The effects stood long for over six years. The patients who recorded an average mass index of the body to be 50, showed a tremendous loss of near about forty percent in the mass index of their body. They also did loose almost eighty percent of the extra weight of their body. The facts regarding the effects of the laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery in reducing the level of cholesterol in the body was also supported by the researchers of the University Iowa Hospital and clinics. |
